November 13-15

Those of you who are following our itinerary closely might be wondering why we are back in Germany. Our journey has taken a strangely circuitous route, but for good reason. We had the opportunity to see my dear friend--Ella Kim--perform as a part of the DanceWorks Chicago Company, and we couldn't pass that up! We had this trip back to Deutschland in the plans for a while, but didn't know we would be journeying back north from Italy until last week, when we decided to go to Rome. Is it the most logical route? Absolutely not. Worth it? Definitely.

This post will be short--just like our stay in Rüsselsheim. Mostly, we caught up on sleep and rested our bodies after long days on cobblestones. We went to a Germany restaurant and managed to spend almost an hour in the dining room before realizing that the two doors leading off the dining room were in fact 9 Pin Bowling alleys, not additional seating like we had thought. We saw Ella perform on Friday night, and happily participated in applause that lasted so long they had to do a second curtain call!

As I mentioned in our previous post, Cal and I both wanted Amsterdam to be a part of this adventure, so our pit stop in Rüsselsheim also served as a jumping off point to get to the Netherlands. As I write this, I am on the final leg of a VERY long travel day, making our way to Amsterdam by train. We will spend a few days enjoying stroopwafel before leaving our European adventure behind. From here, we journey to Morocco, and the next phase of our journey begins.

One final thought--some of you may have noticed that the writing in this blog has gotten a big more descriptive and artistic. I am happy to report that the last few posts, Cal has been taking a second pass through my writing and adding his own flair. Y'all thought I was the dramatic one, huh?
